Jean Goldblum launched his hosting stint on “Saturday Night Live U.K.” with a characteristically eccentric musical number, celebrating the city of London and his own cinematic legacy. The actor, known for fronting his own jazz ensemble and starring in major franchises like “Jurassic Park” and “Wicked,” sat at the piano to deliver an original composition filled with British cultural touchstones.
Addressing the live audience, Goldblum expressed his disbelief at the opportunity. “Can you believe this is Saturday night, first of all?” he asked. “And me, I’m hosting this gosh darn ‘SNL U.K.’ triumphant second season first episode! So, for the occasion, may we perform something we’ve just composed special for you tonight?”
The tune featured lyrics referencing popular UK brands and sentiments. “I’m hoping to be your precise cup of tea and that you’ll like me more than Nando’s or Marmite,” Goldblum sang. He added, “Even if I still bomb, I will keep calm and carry on because I’m hosting from London tonight.”
