Jaguars Edge Eagles in Thrilling Finish at Tottenham; Week Five NFL Recap

Florida’s history of thrilling finishes was etched into the record books at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, as the Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 19-17 on a dramatic 57-yard field goal with just eight seconds remaining.

The victory lifts the Jaguars to a 4-1 record, while the defending Super Bowl champions drop to 2-3. The game featured significant injury challenges for Philadelphia, yet they managed to hold a lead heading into the final minute before Jacksonville orchestrated one of the most memorable closures in recent NFL London history.

The Jaguars’ comeback was fueled by a spectacular one-handed touchdown catch by Parker Washington on a fourth-down play with roughly two minutes left. Washington secured the ball while tumbling backward, tying the game and forcing overtime-like drama. Although the two-point conversion attempt failed, the momentum shifted sharply in Florida’s favor.

Philadelphia responded with a drive that moved into field goal range, giving Jake Elliott an opportunity to win the game. His 48-yard kick was good, putting the Eagles ahead 17-16 with 8 seconds on the clock. However, Jacksonville’s return specialist broke free on the ensuing kickoff, racing upfield to position Cam Little for the game-winning attempt.

Little’s 57-yard strike was excellent, sealing the 19-17 upset in what was billed as “London’s greatest NFL game.”

Elsewhere on Sunday’s slate, the week five matchup between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers lived up to its NFC North hype. Tyson Bagent, filling in for the injured Bears quarterback, struggled early but found rhythm late. D’Andre Swift powered in for a one-yard touchdown with 1:53 left in the second quarter, capping a drive that followed a critical holding penalty on Green Bay.

Green Bay answered with a quick strike to MarShawn Lloyd, taking a 14-7 lead into halftime. However, the final scoreline reflects the tight nature of the contest, with the Packers holding on in a defensive battle at Lambeau Field.

In other key results, the New England Patriots defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 14-7, powered by a rushing touchdown from Rhamondre Stevenson. The Cincinnati Bengals edged the Miami Dolphins 14-7 behind Joe Burrow’s connection with Mike Gesicki, while the New York Jets snapped the Cleveland Browns’ momentum with a 7-6 win.

The Houston Texans improved to 1-4 with a 9-3 victory over the Tennessee Titans, and the Washington Commanders topped the New York Giants 9-3. The Minnesota Vikings, bolstered by the return of star receiver Justin Jefferson, defeated the New Orleans Saints 7-3. In the late-game clash, the Indianapolis Colts fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers 14-13 on a last-second touchdown by Trey Warren.

Week five showcased an NFL where nearly every game remained within one score, highlighting the competitive parity defining the early season.

  1. Is it just me, or are low-scoring defensive battles becoming the norm? That Bears-Packers game was painful to watch.
