Former special counsel Jack Smith stated that Sen. Lindsey Graham, who passed away in July, “likely would have been a witness” in the 2020 election case had it proceeded to trial.
Smith delivered the remarks during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing addressed to Graham’s sister, Sen. Darlene Graham. He emphasized that while his team investigated matters related to the election, the former senator was never the subject of their inquiry.
“I believe your brother was a patriotic public servant. He was not a target of our investigation,” Smith told the committee.
