Investigators Dig for Answers at Philadelphia ‘House of Horrors’ Linked to Missing Women

Authorities in Philadelphia have turned their attention to the physical structure of 417 West Chew Avenue, a deteriorating residence heavily damaged by fire above the second floor, as they investigate a series of disappearances potentially linked to the late Raymond “RC” Horsch.

The investigation into the property, locally referred to as the “house of horrors,” follows an extensive review of Horsch’s archive, which included approximately one million photographs and films. The deceased, who died last year at the age of 82, was a career criminal, local artist, author, and self-described snuff photographer. His son, Eugene, 44, is also a person of interest in the ongoing inquiry.

Homicide investigators recently shifted their focus from the digital evidence to a physical excavation of the home and its grounds. The search aims to uncover what occurred at the address over the past three decades and determine if the site is connected to the cases of seven missing women.

  1. I remember this house from years ago. The fire damage raises serious questions about whether evidence was intentionally destroyed before excavation began.

  2. The sheer volume of evidence is staggering. One million photos could take years to process. Hope they find answers for the families.
