India Detains Cockroach Janta Party Founder as New Delhi Locks Down Ahead of Election Protest

Authorities in New Delhi detained Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), ahead of a scheduled demonstration on October 10, 2026. The arrest preceded a rally organized by the youth-led movement, which is calling for the resignation of India’s Chief Election Commissioner due to allegations of voter list fraud.

To prevent the protest from taking place, security personnel were positioned across the capital, with thousands of officers deployed to maintain order. In addition to the heavy security presence, authorities imposed a virtual lockdown, suspending travel and telecommunications links in the city.

  1. I never thought I would see the day when the ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ became headline news in Indian politics!

  2. A virtual lockdown and telecom suspensions just to stop a rally? That feels like a major overreaction to me.

  3. Strange party name, but the voter fraud allegations seem serious enough to warrant this heavy-handed response from Delhi police.
