A civilian has been hospitalized following a shooting incident involving a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in the Marble Hill section of New York City. The event occurred Thursday around 4 p.m. local time at the intersection of West 225th Street and Marble Hill Avenue.
According to law enforcement sources, federal agents were attempting to take an individual into custody when a different person, who was not the target of the arrest, was shot. The NYPD confirmed that the victim’s injuries are not considered life-threatening. Police emphasized that they were not involved in the shooting but noted the presence of numerous law enforcement personnel and a gray vehicle with a bullet hole in the windshield at the scene.
An FBI official stated that its evidence response team is assisting investigators from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the parent agency of ICE, in their probe.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced she has been briefed on the incident and called for accountability. She stated on social media that she expects federal authorities to deliver a “full and transparent accounting” of the circumstances, adding that New Yorkers are entitled to understand exactly what occurred.
New York City Council Speaker Julie Menin also expressed alarm regarding the report. In a social media post, Menin highlighted the anxiety and fear that ICE operations have instilled within immigrant communities, urging a prompt and fully transparent release of details.
This incident marks another episode in a broader pattern; a CBS News analysis indicates there have been at least 30 shootings involving Department of Homeland Security officers during the second Trump administration, some of which resulted in fatalities. The investigation remains ongoing.

Governor Hochul is right to demand answers. New Yorkers need facts, not speculation.
Scary that a target wasn’t even the one hit. How did this happen in broad daylight?
I hope the bullet hole in the windshield is analyzed. Was the vehicle moving?
Our communities are terrified right now. We deserve full transparency from federal agents.
30 shootings in one admin? That pattern suggests systemic issues, not just one bad day.
Non-lethal is good, but a random bystander shouldn’t be shot at all. This needs immediate investigation.
Another civilian wounded during an ICE arrest. When does the violence stop and accountability begin?
