The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has expressed “serious concern” regarding evidence that North Korea has constructed a new facility designed to enrich weapons-grade uranium, an activity aimed at bolstering its nuclear arsenal.
In a report released this week, the UN nuclear watchdog stated that the new building is located at the country’s primary Yongbyon nuclear site. According to the agency, the structure is capable of accommodating up to 28 centrifuge cascades, which are machinery units commonly utilized in the uranium enrichment process.
