Former movie mogul Harvey Weinstein was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years in prison for the sexual assault of former production assistant Mimi Haley, which occurred in New York City in 2006. The ruling came from the Manhattan Supreme Court.
During the sentencing proceedings, Weinstein addressed the court directly. “I am not a perfect person,” he stated, adding that he lives with numerous regrets and offers a sincere apology for his behavior.
In response, Judge Curtis Farber criticized Weinstein’s choices, remarking that the producer had possessed everything necessary to secure a legendary legacy but squandered it through his criminal actions. “You had it all. Your legacy could have been cemented with greatness,” Farber said. “But you threw it all away by assaulting Miriam Haley.”
