Hannah Fry recruited as traitor and Myha’la banished in dramatic Celebrity Traitors episode

In a landmark moment for the UK version of Celebrity Traitors, actor Richard E Grant became the first traitor to be identified and banished at the opening round table. During the third episode of series two, Grant was voted out in a landslide after his unorthodox strategy of publicly admitting his allegiance failed to secure him any allies.

Grant, who had revealed his secret role to fellow contestants in the bar, accepted his fate with good humour. “Thank you for giving me an almost bingo full-house of votes,” he told the group. “I have always wanted to be a traitor, as you know, and sometimes in life your dreams do come true.” While some players, like Ross Kemp, celebrated the reveal with visible excitement, others, including comedian Joanne McNally, expressed genuine shock at having been deceived.

Despite the faithful successfully identifying one traitor, the round table raised new suspicions. Actress Myha’la was caught winking at Grant before casting her vote, a gesture that Julie Hesmondhalgh interpreted as a signal of another traitor. Hesmondhalgh delivered an impassioned speech predicting a second banishment, though her analysis ultimately proved incorrect.

Meanwhile, the remaining conspirators, Maya Jama and James Acaster, met in the turret to decide the fate of shortlisted players Jerry Hall and Hannah Fry. Rather than murdering the mathematician, they chose to recruit her. Fry reacted with disbelief upon learning she was being seduced into the traitor role rather than eliminated, admitting she had suspected both Jama and Acaster were faithful.

Acaster compared the changing dynamics of the game to the pop group Sugababes, noting the fluid nature of the cast. Fry’s recruitment meant all celebrities returned to breakfast unscathed the following morning, though Miranda Hart noted a visible nervousness in Fry’s demeanour.

The episode also featured a mission where contestants used a battering ram to break into crypts to secure prize money and protective shields. James Blunt took a commanding role during the task, drawing comments from Miranda Hart about his leadership style. During the scramble for shields, Myha’la and Fry found one together; Myha’la kept it after initially offering it to Fry, a decision that would later haunt her.

Suspicion surrounding Myha’la intensified after the mission. During the second banishment vote, Fry questioned why Myha’la had grabbed the shield only to offer it away, describing the behaviour as suspicious. Myha’la became emotional as she defended her actions, but she was ultimately voted out, confirming her status as a faithful player.

As the game progresses, the traitors are now set to target Blunt, Bella Ramsey, and another contestant. The episode ends with Acaster joking that removing James Blunt would simplify his life due to the confusion caused by their shared name.

  1. James Blunt taking charge during the mission was hilarious. And his name confusion joke at the end had me laughing all the way through the credits.

  2. Hannah Fry becoming a traitor is such a plot twist! The mathematician joining the conspirators changes everything for the rest of the game.

  3. Myha’la getting voted out just breaks my heart. She was definitely innocent, and that shield moment was totally misinterpreted.

  4. I never thought Richard E Grant would go that route! His honesty was refreshing, even if it got him banished immediately.
