France Televisions has taken down the replay of its France 5 show La Grande Librairie following an incident in which actress Adèle Haenel used a live broadcast to condemn what she described as a genocide in Gaza.
The broadcaster stated that the decision to remove the program was a precautionary measure taken while it awaits a review by the media regulatory authority, Arcom.
I find it surprising that a broadcaster would remove content preemptively just to avoid regulatory scrutiny. Where is the courage?
Censorship is never the answer. Pulling the replay only amplifies her message and silences public debate.
