Ed Sheeran has issued a statement regarding the controversy surrounding the removal of Macklemore from his North American Loop tour. The decision followed the rapper’s politically charged address at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
During a two-minute speech on September 4, the Grammy-winning artist addressed the crowd, expressing solidarity with residents of Gaza and the occupied West Bank. He stated that he wanted to assure them that they had not been forgotten.
Following the performance, owners of several upcoming stadium venues objected to Macklemore’s continued presence on the tour bill. Among those who raised concerns was Robert Kraft, the billionaire owner of the New England Patriots, who is a prominent donor and supporter of Israel.
