Comedian and internet personality Druski, whose real name is Drew Desbordes, is set to host the November 7 installment of “Saturday Night Live.” The casting makes him the first online content creator to headline the long-running NBC sketch comedy series.
According to Variety, representatives for both the show and Druski declined to comment on the announcement. The news was confirmed by multiple sources familiar with the production.
Druski joins a Season 52 roster that already features Jalen Brunson, Dakota Johnson, and Shane Gillis. Indie Navarette, known for the series “Obsession,” is scheduled to host the Halloween episode, which will feature musical guest Gracie Abrams. Other musical acts confirmed for the season include Katseye, Turnstile, and Rosalía.
Season 52 has seen significant viral controversy. During an October episode, host Shane Gillis used a slur regarding women’s attire in his opening monologue, drawing criticism from public figures such as Dan Levy. Earlier in the season, Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance during Dakota Johnson’s monologue on October 3.
The cast for Season 52 was finalized in September with the addition of Grace Reiter and Saidah Belo-Osagie. Reiter is a stand-up comedian and actor who gained prominence on TikTok and YouTube before appearing in HBO’s “The Chair Company.” Belo-Osagie is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker and comedian known for her Afrobeats Futura event series and solo show “Saidah Gets Closure.” Excluding three members of the previous cast, the entire Season 51 ensemble returned for the premiere on September 26.
