Djokovic Claims Seventh China Open Title After Medvedev Disqualification

Former world No. 1 Novak Djokovic secured his seventh China Open trophy, capping a dominant campaign in Beijing where he did not concede a single match point during either the semifinal or final rounds.

The 34-year-old advanced to the championship match following a controversial incident in his semifinal clash against Daniil Medvedev. Medvedev was defaulted from the tournament after striking a spectator with a ball, handing Djokovic an unexpected path to the title decider.

In the final on Tuesday, Djokovic faced Australian Alex de Minaur. The Serb claimed the 102nd championship of his career after de Minaur retired from the match at 7-6 (7-3), 0-1.

Djokovic’s performance in Beijing was statistically impressive. Over the course of the tournament, he maintained a perfect record with 34 wins and no losses, dropping only five sets across 34 matches. The victory also included 12 top-10 wins, further solidifying his status among the sport’s elite.
