Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported trespassing incident at former Vice President Kamala Harris’s residence in Malibu on Friday evening, officials confirmed.
The department said deputies were dispatched to the property around 10:30 p.m. after Harris’s private security team flagged a suspicious individual. Upon arrival, law enforcement contacted the person, who complied and departed the premises without incident. A formal trespassing report was filed.
Eduardo Negrón, a spokesperson for Harris, stated that security personnel intercepted the individual before they reached the house. He confirmed that neither Harris nor Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff were at the home at the time and expressed gratitude for the swift response from both security and law enforcement teams.
In response to the incident, local sheriff’s deputies agreed to increase patrols in the area as a precautionary measure.
Former vice presidents typically qualify for Secret Service protection for six months following their tenure. Although President Joe Biden granted Harris an extension of that protection, President Donald Trump revoked the extension last August. Under normal circumstances, the protection would have expired this summer.
The article mentions Trump revoked her Secret Service protection. That seems like a risky situation to be dealing with regarding personal safety.
Good thing she wasn’t home. It is scary that someone got that close to her property, even if they left voluntarily.
