Daniel Thomas, the 37-year-old leader of the Patriot Platform and a figure known to supporters as Danny Tommo, has entered pleas of not guilty to charges of criminal damage and failure to disclose a phone PIN. The appearance took place at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on September 25 via a video link.
The charges stem from an incident on Tuesday in the English Channel, where authorities allege Thomas damaged a small boat carrying an emergency responder. Police confirmed that an arrest was executed following the damage, which was captured in video footage seemingly showing Thomas slashing at the dinghy.
Thomas faces two distinct counts. In addition to the alleged criminal damage, he is charged with withholding the PIN for his mobile device. During the proceedings, he formally denied both allegations.
The case has drawn significant public attention and turnout. On Thursday evening, several hundred individuals gathered outside a police investigation centre in Basingstoke, operating under the belief that Thomas was being held there. Far-right activist Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, widely recognized as Tommy Robinson, attended the court hearing and was present in the public gallery. Additional supporters also assembled outside the magistrates’ court facility.
