Costa Limited has reported a return to profitability for its core coffee shop division, posting an operating profit of £20 million for the year ending December 31, 2025. This marks a significant turnaround from the £13.5 million loss recorded in 2024.
The revival is attributed to a strategic revamp of its high street outlets, which includes broadening the menu to feature popular items such as iced beverages, matcha, and fresher pastries. The company also achieved its first net increase in outlets in several years, opening 50 new locations across the UK and Ireland last year.
Operating in both the UK, Ireland, and globally, Costa manages approximately 4,000 shops worldwide, with 2,700 located in the UK and Ireland. The chain supports a workforce of roughly 20,000 employees.
Profit is great, but did they really need 50 new stores to get there? Feels like inflation at work.
Finally! The matcha lattes were long overdue. Glad to see Costa figuring it out again.
