Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed on Wednesday that the United States and China have reached an agreement to prolong their trade truce by two months. The extension comes as Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in the United States for a scheduled summit with President Donald Trump.
Bessent described the development as a continuation of the “détente” between the two nations. Officials from both countries finalized the deal earlier in the day, ensuring that economic tensions remain paused through January.
