General Michael E. Kurzok, the commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), expressed confidence in the adequacy of military munitions stockpiles, dismissing claims of a critical shortage.
In an interview with The Hill, Kurzok stated that he was “not concerned at all” about the current state of ammunition reserves, which have been a subject of intense debate among defense analysts and lawmakers following increased military engagements in the Middle East.
The comments come amid broader discussions about the readiness of U.S. forces to sustain prolonged operations without replenishing critical inventory. Kurzok emphasized that CENTCOM has taken proactive measures to ensure operational continuity, including reallocating existing stocks and coordinating closely with the Department of Defense on resupply logistics.
While some members of Congress have raised alarms about depleting stocks of precision-guided munitions and other key systems, the CENTCOM commander maintained that current levels are sufficient to meet immediate regional threats.
Finally, some clarity. Better to hear confidence than panic from command. They clearly have a plan for resupply.
Reallocating existing stocks is a temporary fix. What happens when those reserves run dry mid-campaign? The logistics look thin.
Not concerned at all? Seems convenient coming from someone who controls the budget allocation. Where is the oversight?
I’m glad the Commander is confident, but precision-guided munitions take years to rebuild. We can’t ignore the long-term risk.
