Malawian authorities have launched an investigation into the kidnapping of a British citizen in the southern African country. Nusrat Osman, 47, was seized by four armed men in Blantyre, the nation’s largest city, around 12:30 local time on Friday.
According to police reports, the abductors were traveling in a grey Nissan Dualis when they took Osman. Officials have announced a reward exceeding $17,000 (£12,600) for any credible information that helps locate the mother of two or leads to the prosecution of those responsible.
Osman was employed by a local auditing firm at the time of the incident. Her husband expressed distress regarding her disappearance, telling the Nyasa Times that he is unaware of her whereabouts or condition. He emphasized that his wife had no known conflicts with others.
Authorities stated that the motive for the abduction remains unclear and confirmed that neither the kidnappers nor a ransom demand have made contact with the family or law enforcement. The UK Foreign Office has been contacted for comment.
