British athlete Marie McManamon has been scheduled to compete against Hong Kong Muay Thai specialist Yu Yau Pui on the undercard for ONE Fight Night 48. The event, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports during the early hours of Saturday, October 3, is headlined by Middlesbrough’s Paul Elliott as he challenges Shamil Erdogan for the ONE Championship heavyweight world title.
McManamon, recognized as one of the United Kingdom’s leading female Muay Thai fighters, brings a record defined by high work rates and precise kicking techniques. She has previously secured championships in both the Victory League and Roar Fighting Championship. Following a recent defeat to Selina Flores, the former ONE world title contender aims to immediately re-establish herself at the elite level with this return to competition.
Her opponent, Yu Yau Pui, is known for her striking power and ability to finish fights quickly. Yu began her tenure in the ONE Friday Fights series in 2023. After recording four knockout victories in her first five bouts, she earned a significant $100,000 contract with ONE Championship.
Beyond the main event and the McManamon-Yu clash, the card also features a crucial Muay Thai matchup between America’s Luke Lessei and England’s Charlie Guest. The victor of that contest will move closer to a shot at Nico Carrillo’s featherweight title. Carrillo recently made headlines with a stunning knockout on his kickboxing debut at ONE Fight Night 46.
I read that McManamon has struggled against top-tier kickers lately. Can she adapt to Yu’s style?
Is this really atomweight? It feels like such a small division but the striking power here is impressive.
Who else is tuning in just for the main event title fight? Hope Elliott brings the belt home!
A $100,000 contract after four KOs? Yu is definitely dangerous. This is a tough test for McManamon.
Exciting to see British fighters getting global exposure on Sky Sports! Good luck to McManamon.
