Boox has shared more specifics about its Picco e-reader following IFA coverage, though the company still hasn’t announced a launch price. The initial teaser arrived back in July alongside comparisons to the Xteink X4, but most details were sparse at the time.
The device features a 3.97-inch e-paper touchscreen — a move The Verge’s Andrew Liszewski praised as a “welcome upgrade” over the X4 Pro, which lacked touch input. It also includes physical page-turn buttons that can be programmed for different actions depending on whether the press is short or long.
Unlike Xteink’s phones, the Picco won’t offer magnetic phone-mounting on its back. Storage is another notable omission: the device has no internal memory and relies entirely on a microSD card for content. Boox has targeted a November release window, but pricing remains unconfirmed.
MicroSD support is actually fine if I already have cards lying around. Let’s see that price.
