Amazon Prime Video has released a new trailer for “Blade Runner 2099” at New York Comic Con, offering the first look at the upcoming limited series. The show is set half a century after the events of “Blade Runner 2049,” in a rejuvenated version of Los Angeles.

The story follows Cora, portrayed by Hunter Schafer, a fugitive who assumes one last identity as a Blade Runner. In the course of her duties, she is compelled to team up with Olwen, played by Michelle Yeoh, a Replicant who is nearing the end of her life. Together, they pursue a runaway who possesses secrets capable of toppling the entire city.

Schafer and Yeoh headline the cast, joined by series regulars Dimitri Abold and Lewis Gribben. The recurring lineup features Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, Tom Burke, and Maurizio Lombardi.

The “Blade Runner” universe originates from Philip K. Dick’s 1968 novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” Ridley Scott directed the original 1982 film starring Harrison Ford, while Denis Villeneuve helmed the 2017 sequel “Blade Runner 2049,” in which Ford returned to his role.

Silka Luisa serves as the showrunner, creator, and executive producer. The executive producer team is extensive, including Ridley Scott, Alcon Entertainment founders Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, Alcon TV president Ben Roberts, Steven Johnson, David W. Zucker, and Clayton Krueger of Scott Free Productions, alongside Richard Sharkey, Tom Spezialy, Michael Green, Cynthia Yorkin, Frank Giustra, Tim Gable, and Isa Dick Hackett. Jonathan van Tulleken is also an executive producer and directed the opening two episodes.

All eight episodes of “Blade Runner 2099” will be available to stream starting November 25 on Prime Video.

  1. November 25 is too far away! Finally, a proper continuation of the universe that respects the original aesthetic.

  2. Another sequel five decades later? I hope the story stands on its own without demanding I rewatch everything first.
