Bahrain GP Held in Malaysia as Sepang Temperatures Soar Ahead of Qualifying

The Formula One 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix is set to take place at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, organized as a result of ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. Qualifying for the event is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM BST.

Conditions at the Malaysian venue are expected to be intense, with afternoon air temperatures reaching approximately 32°C and high humidity levels. Track surface temperatures are projected to climb between 50°C and 60°C. Unlike the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix, which will be held under night conditions, both the qualifying session and the race in Malaysia will occur during daylight hours.

Organizers note that the extreme heat is likely to have a significant impact on tire performance tomorrow. The harsh trackside environment has drawn comparisons to seeking shade under palm trees on the grassy banks surrounding the circuit.

  1. Why didn’t they just delay the race until evening? Daylight qualifying in this heat seems reckless.

  2. F1 in Malaysia instead of Bahrain? What a bizarre twist. Hope the drivers don’t overheat out there!
