Several people have been killed and dozens wounded across Ukraine following a series of Russian attacks over the weekend. According to local authorities, the strikes targeted infrastructure and residential areas in multiple regions.
Ukrainian officials reported two fatalities in the southern Zaporizhzhia region. In central Ukraine, steelmaker ArcelorMittal confirmed that two additional people were killed at its facility in Kryvyi Rih. Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that a Russian drone strike on an apartment building in the port city of Odesa injured 37 people, with rescue teams currently searching for two missing individuals.
Zelenskyy noted that ten regions were attacked overnight and that Russian drones remained active in the skies over many of them.
In retaliation, Kyiv announced it had targeted chemical enterprises in Russia’s Perm and Samara regions. Ukraine’s General Staff reported a fire at a rubber factory in Togliatti, located in the Samara region, which produces synthetic rubber crucial for tactical and ballistic missiles. Togliatti Mayor Ilya Sukhih confirmed that one person was hospitalized after the attack and that several multi-story residential buildings sustained damage.
On the diplomatic front, the Kremlin dismissed Zelenskyy’s suggestion to hold talks with President Vladimir Putin at the upcoming Group of 20 (G20) summit in Miami this December. Speaking on Saturday, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov indicated that Moscow had not yet decided whether Putin would attend the summit. Reiterating Russia’s longstanding position, Peskov stated that if Zelenskyy wishes to meet, he should travel to Moscow instead.
