Arsenal secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Lille in their Champions League match at the Emirates, with Jurrien Timber, Eberechi Eze, and Bukayo Saka finding the net in a dramatic second half.
The first half was a stalemate, with Arsenal controlling possession but unable to break down a well-organised Lille defence. The home side created the better chances, including a disallowed goal for Ayase Ueda after a VAR check and a saved effort from Eze, but the score remained 0-0 at the break.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta introduced three changes at the start of the second half, bringing on Saka, Martin Odegaard, and Kai Havertz for Madueke, Merino, and Gyokeres. The substitution had an immediate impact.
In the 64th minute, Timber opened the scoring with a clever lift over Lille goalkeeper Berke Ozer after receiving a pass from Madueke. Two minutes later, Eze doubled the lead after Nabil Bentaleb gifted possession to Saka, whose cross was deflected past Ozer by Eze’s shot.
Saka completed the scoring in the 71st minute, sidefooting home from close range after a quick combination involving Odegaard and Havertz. Lille made their own changes, introducing Sahraoui and Kjaergaard for Bentaleb and Mukau, but could not respond.
The win keeps Arsenal’s Champions League campaign on track as they continue their push for progress in the competition.
