Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea: Odegaard and Saka earn top marks in Premier League victory

Martin Odegaard scored the decisive goal as Arsenal secured a 2-1 home victory over Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Chelsea took an early lead when club-record signing Morgan Rogers volleyed home just two minutes in. Kai Havertz equalized against his former side shortly after, but Odegaard restored Arsenal’s advantage early in the second half to seal the win.

Odegaard received an 8 for his composed finish and impressive service from set-pieces, while Bukayo Saka also earned an 8 for his constant threat and ability to draw dangerous free-kicks.

Havertz, who created the chances for both goals, was rated 7, as was Christos Tzolis, who provided Arsenal’s main outlet in transition. Riccardo Calafiori and Ezri Konsa also impressed, with the new signing Konsa winning the most duels among defenders.

For Chelsea, Pedro Neto and Reece James were the standout performers with 7s, while Rogers was rated 7 despite the early setback. Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez struggled, particularly for the equalizer, and was given a 5, as was Cole Palmer, who was largely kept quiet by the Arsenal defense.

Overall, Odegaard was named player of the match with an average rating of 8.20, leading a strong showing from the home side.

  1. Hard to believe Martinez got a 5, but fair enough after that equalizer. Terrible outing for the Argentine keeper.
