Apple to Launch HomeView Smart Hub on October 13, Marking Major Smart Home Push

Apple is preparing to reveal the HomeView, a new smart home hub scheduled for announcement on Tuesday, October 13, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The device marks a significant pivot for the tech giant, which has previously struggled to gain substantial traction with its HomeKit software framework and HomePod smart speakers.

The HomeView is described as a display-equipped device powered by Apple’s A18 chip and Siri. It will allow users to manage and control various connected home devices from a centralized interface. Reports indicate that Apple will offer two versions of the product: a countertop model and a wall-mounted variant.

This launch represents Apple’s most ambitious effort to date in the smart home sector. In addition to the HomeView, Gurman reports that Apple will unveil updated models of the Apple TV set-top box and the HomePod mini during the same event. These announcements are part of a broader strategy to expand Apple’s presence in home automation.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Apple is partnering with LG to develop a suite of new smart home products, including a smart lock, a thermostat, and a doorbell. This collaboration underscores Apple’s intent to diversify its hardware offerings and create a more integrated ecosystem for connected home devices.

While multiple rumors about a new Apple smart home product have circulated over the past couple of years, previous reports suggested delays due to challenges with Siri integration. The confirmation of the HomeView’s name and release timeline suggests that these development hurdles have been overcome, paving the way for a November release.

  1. LG partnership makes sense, but will it actually beat Google Nest’s ecosystem? Skeptical about Siri integration working seamlessly.

  2. Finally, Apple takes smart homes seriously with hardware instead of just software. The A18 chip should make this snappy.
