According to a Bloomberg report, Apple is actively working on a new fitness tracker that features a screenless design, drawing clear inspiration from rival brand Whoop. The current prototype reportedly consists of a slender fabric strap paired with a computing module embedded with sensors.
The device remains in the early phases of development. If Apple chooses to proceed with a commercial release, it would not hit the market before 2028.
The concept mirrors Whoop’s existing product ecosystem, which includes the Whoop 5.0 band as well as the “medical grade” (MG) variant equipped with a built-in electrocardiogram (EKG) function. These bands are engineered for continuous wear, boasting a battery life that exceeds 14 days on a single charge.
Curious how the EKG integration will work without a display. Will the app handle all the medical data?
Does anyone else think a premium price tag is inevitable? Apple always marks up the competition’s ideas.
2028? That feels ages away. I hope they refine the battery life more than Whoop currently offers.
Finally, Apple listens to what serious athletes actually want. No screen means better sleep and less distraction.
