Andreessen Horowitz’s Olivia Moore Sees Uncharted Opportunity in Consumer AI

In the wake of recent discussions regarding the challenging economics of consumer artificial intelligence, Olivia Moore, a partner at Andreessen Horowitz, contends that the sector is far from a crisis, but rather an untapped frontier. On Monday, she released a comprehensive report highlighting the top 100 consumer AI applications, revealing that while ChatGPT maintains a dominant market position, emerging players such as Suno and ElevenLabs are demonstrating significant resilience.

Perhaps the most striking finding in Moore’s analysis is the notable absence of AI integration across several major consumer verticals. The report identifies approximately six distinct categories—including social networking, dating, retail, travel, finance, and health—that currently lack prominent AI entrants, suggesting substantial room for future growth.

Moore argues that the path to sustainable revenue lies in moving beyond traditional subscription models and API fees. She suggests that many users would prefer ad-supported free tiers over direct payments, a model that could broaden adoption beyond the high-income demographics that currently drive much of the market.
