Amazon has introduced a refreshed Fire TV Stick 4K that streamlines installation by allowing users to power the device directly through a television’s USB port. This design eliminates the necessity for an external power adapter, a feature previously seen on the company’s updated entry-level Fire TV Stick released earlier this year.
Available starting today at a price point of $59.99, the new stick operates on Amazon’s recently updated television operating system. It also comes equipped with Wi-Fi 6 connectivity alongside Bluetooth 5.3 and Bluetooth Low Energy support.
In addition to the hardware update, Amazon is consolidating its streaming stick portfolio. The lineup has been reduced from five devices to four, which now includes the Fire TV Stick HD, the new Fire TV Stick 4K, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max, and the Fire TV Cube.
Wait, they dropped a model? I thought the Lite was still around somewhere. Which one did they retire?
Does this work reliably with all TVs? My wall-mounted setup has the USB port facing awkwardly against the mount.
