Adam Brody is calling for a “free Palestine” and explaining why his political activism doesn’t come up more often during his red-carpet and press appearances.
“I just answer the questions I’m asked,” the actor told GQ. “And it’s true. I’m not wearing a pin, so I’m not inviting a certain question, and perhaps I should. I really admire people who do. But 99% of what I’m asked about is about the show. I’m not trying to plead ignorance—here we are doing a political interview, so it makes sense that we wade into this territory—but I’ve never ducked a question, really, not a political question anyway.”

The “O.C.” actor explained that while he hadn’t spoken publicly about the Israel-Gaza issue before, it comes up “a lot” for him in private. He then made his stance on the conflict clear: “Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide,” he said. “Put me down as wanting a free Palestine. It’s awful that it’s taken so much death and misery, but it does feel like it’s reaching a breaking point that it should have a while ago.”

Brody, who isn’t on social media, also defended his decision to remain offline. “I think being off social media has been the healthiest thing. I’m forced to use a lot of tools and products where I don’t believe in the heads of those companies, but I’m sure as shit not going to be on anything that Elon Musk is a part of,” he said. “I know people are doing really good work on [X], and I’m really glad about that. But it’s not for me, and I don’t have any guilt about not being on it. Sorry, I feel great about it.”
Brody has starred in Netflix’s romantic comedy series “Nobody Wants This” as rabbi Noah Roklov since Season 1 premiered in 2024. Season 3 is due on the streamer on Oct. 22.

Erin Foster created the series and executive produces along with Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who both serve as showrunners.
Can we just talk about Season 3 now? I need that Joanne and Noah fix immediately. Politics aside, the show is pure comfort.
He’s right though. Most interviewers never ask these questions. He’s not ducking; the industry just ignores politics unless it’s convenient.
Interesting that he connects his political views to his role as a rabbi. I wonder if fans of Nobody Wants This are split on this.
I respect his honesty, but doesn’t avoiding social media limit the reach of his message? Seems contradictory to me.
Finally, a celebrity with a spine. We need more actors willing to speak plainly about this crisis instead of staying silent.
