The actor is making a return to his cult Channel 4 character, Super Hans, through a new autobiography, despite confessing that he has never completed an entire episode of the series. In addition to the book, King opened up about his harrowing experience surviving a stroke.
When asked what the eccentric character has been up to since his last appearance—following events such as his separation from Molly, the twins, and his moped rental venture in Macedonia—King playfully dodged providing a summary. He suggested that Super Hans might discover a legal loophole to invalidate a marriage certificate, but quickly realized that outlining these plot points would essentially reveal the entire story contained within the new book.
Regarding the writing process, King clarified that the project is neither a standard autobiography nor a purely fictional creation driven by his inner persona. Instead, he described a surreal daily routine where the character visits him each morning, borrows his computer, and works independently while King attempts to stay out of the way, often going for walks.
King also shared details about his recent health scare, describing a terrifying hospital stay. Outside of his health struggles, he noted that strangers still approach him to discuss the show, with some referencing the controversial line about crack being “moreish.”
The stroke survival is the real story here. Glad he’s writing again, though the character visiting him sounds like a mental breakdown.
Can’t believe he’s never finished an episode of Peep Show. That’s either lazy or brilliant absurdity.
