Liam and Noel Gallagher Skip Oasis Documentary Venice Press Conference

Liam and Noel Gallagher were absent from the press conference for their upcoming Disney+ documentary “Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger” during the Venice Film Festival on Saturday.

The brothers, who ended a 15-year feud by reuniting for their highly successful “Live ’25” tour last year, traveled to the Lido by boat. They participated in the film’s official photocall but departed before the scheduled media briefing began.

Co-director Will Lovelace addressed the absence during the presser, noting that the musicians had just finished posing for photos. “They were here a second ago having their photograph taken, so they are here,” Lovelace said, offering no further explanation for their departure. Representatives for both Oasis and Disney did not immediately return requests for comment.

The documentary, which premiered at Venice on Saturday night, features extensive backstage and live footage of the band. It is set to hit theaters on September 11 before streaming on Disney+ later this year. The film includes the siblings’ first joint interview in two decades, as they have generally avoided appearing together in press settings since their reconciliation.

Their absence may also reflect a desire to sidestep speculation regarding future tours. Recent cryptic social media posts from the band, combined with a recent comment from Noel to Talksport hinting at a 2027 schedule, have fueled rumors of new performances. “Let’s put it this way: there’s no football tournament on next year, so we’ve got to do something in the summer, right?” Noel said.

In a prior interview with Variety, directors Matt Southern and Lovelace discussed their approach to capturing the reunion. To maintain authenticity, they installed hidden cameras in rehearsal spaces. “We didn’t want it to feel mediated. We didn’t want it to feel like there’s an annoying camera crew running around getting in their way,” Southern explained, noting the sensitivity of filming the brothers after a 15-year separation.

Southern also cautioned viewers against expecting sentimental revelations. “It’s the Gallaghers, it’s not ‘Dawson’s Creek,’” he said. “They’re not gonna sit down and talk about their emotions.”
