U.S. Business Expansion Hits Four-Year High Despite Global Headwinds

Despite a challenging backdrop of escalating inflation, rising interest rates, and geopolitical conflicts including a stalemate with Iran, the U.S. economy has accelerated in the early fall. According to two recent S&P Global surveys, business expansion in September reached its strongest level in more than four years.

The robust growth is being primarily driven by an investment boom surrounding artificial intelligence, alongside sustained consumer spending. These factors appear to be offsetting traditional economic deterrents such as expensive gasoline and monetary tightening measures.

The data suggests that the U.S. economy remains resilient, continuing to expand even as global instability and domestic cost pressures mount.
