Kojima Productions has moved to clarify reports regarding recent personnel changes at the studio, asserting that while there have been staff adjustments, the company remains stable and is not facing the turmoil suggested by some outlets.
The clarification follows significant industry speculation after it was revealed that Sony had dropped the studio’s upcoming project, ‘Physint,’ and that the Metal Gear Solid creator’s next title would instead launch on Xbox. According to a Bloomberg report, the decision stemmed from several issues, including missed deadlines, budget constraints, profitability concerns, and the status of its timed exclusivity deal.
In an interview with IGN, Hideo Kojima acknowledged the anxieties surrounding the situation. He noted that given the current climate of the gaming industry, marked by numerous studio closures, he had expressed worries about the future of Kojima Productions.
“I know there’s a lot of news in the game industry that many studios are closing down,” Kojima stated, reflecting the broader unease among developers and fans alike.
