United States President Donald Trump stated on Friday that Washington has reached an agreement with Denmark and Greenland granting the US “permanent control over security and all other needs.” The claim was made via a post on his Truth Social platform, where he emphasized that under his direction, negotiations with representatives from both nations ensured the US would “FOREVER have the complete ability to do what is necessary in Greenland.”
Trump further alleged that the deal prohibits US adversaries from establishing military bases or stationing personnel in Greenland without obtaining written authorization from Washington. He noted that plans to construct a significant US military presence in suitable locations across the territory would begin immediately, citing numerous potential sites.
As of the time of publication, neither the Danish government nor Greenlandic authorities have issued an official response regarding the alleged agreement.
