Mexican law enforcement officials have dismantled a major drug production hub in the state of Sinaloa, seizing approximately 17 tonnes of methamphetamine. The operation targeted three clandestine laboratories and resulted in the destruction of a facility spanning 5,700 square metres.
Authorities calculated that the seizure and subsequent destruction of the infrastructure caused an economic loss of $347 million to the criminal organizations responsible for the operation. The bust marks a significant blow to drug trafficking networks in the region.
This is a huge blow to the cartels, but I wonder if they just moved production elsewhere in Sinaloa?
Seventeen tonnes? That is an absolutely staggering amount of meth. How do they even produce that much?
Good work by authorities, but let’s not forget this is just one lab. The supply chain is massive.
Makes you realize how deep the drug trade runs in that region. $347 million lost is serious money.
