Meta is significantly expanding the capabilities of Threads for podcast promotion, building on experimental features introduced in 2025. The platform now offers a suite of new tools designed to make it easier for creators to distribute and manage their audio content directly within the app.
According to Threads head Connor Hayes, who first hinted at transcription capabilities in August, users can now share written transcripts of episodes alongside their posts. When sharing a link, creators can include video clips if available, display portions of the transcript, or highlight tagged guests. Additionally, tapping an episode link will play an audio preview, and a new “save for later” button allows listeners to bookmark interesting episodes for future consumption.
Behind the scenes, the platform is introducing creator-focused insights that differ from Threads’ general in-app analytics. While typical link traffic is often de-emphasized elsewhere on the platform, podcast-specific analytics now track metrics such as clicks and saves. The system also sends reminders to creators to share episodes shortly after they premiere.
The move aligns with broader industry trends, as video podcasts provide adaptable content for short-form video apps, text-based social networks, and streaming services like YouTube and Netflix. By streamlining the promotion process, Meta aims to establish Threads as the primary gateway for driving audiences to new podcast shows.
The transcript sharing is brilliant! I love being able to highlight key quotes without having to clip the video myself.
