Escalating violence between Iran-backed Houthi rebels and Yemeni government forces has forced more than 86,000 individuals to abandon their homes since the beginning of July, according to United Nations figures. The intensifying conflict continues to displace thousands of civilians across the region.
Many of those displaced have sought refuge in official camps within Aden, which remains under the control of the recognized government. Others have crossed borders into neighboring Djibouti in search of safety.
The fighting, described by displaced residents as a forceful expulsion from their ancestral lands, highlights the deepening humanitarian crisis in Yemen. As clashes persist, international concern grows over the welfare of those caught in the crossfire.
Djibouti is taking in many of these people too. Their resources must be overwhelmed by now. Really hoping for humanitarian aid corridors soon.
