Music enthusiasts from across the region converged on Stirling over the weekend for Radio 2 in the Park, set against the historic backdrop of Stirling Castle.
The festival kicked off on Friday evening with a DJ-led party, featuring performances by BBC Radio 2 presenters Sara Cox, Gary Davies, DJ Spoony, Michelle Visage, and Rylan. Attendees danced to classic anthems and crowd favorites throughout the night.
Saturday’s lineup featured a diverse array of artists, including Chaka Khan, who headlined the day’s acts. Other notable performers included Scottish icon Lulu, the band Texas, Emeli Sande, Jack Savoretti, 80s pop group ABC, The Script, and Alexandra Burke.
Simple Minds closed out the festival on Sunday, headlining a bill that also included Deacon Blue, Level 42, Blue, Cast, James Blunt, and the Canadian duo Appleton. During his set, James Blunt famously crowd-surfed on an inflatable dinghy, while Simple Minds frontman Jim Kerr engaged with the audience to end the event.
James Blunt on an inflatable dinghy? I hope someone got video of that. Sounds like a proper fun finale.
Simple Minds at Stirling Castle is legendary. Brilliant weekend of music against such a stunning backdrop.
