The Television Academy on Sunday revealed an expanded roster of presenters for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, which will air live on NBC and stream on Peacock this coming Monday. Leading the new additions are Oscar winners Matthew McConaughey and Shailene Woodley.
Woodley recently made history at the September 6 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, claiming her first statuette for outstanding guest actress in a drama series for her performance as Annie Clay in Hulu’s “Paradise.” Meanwhile, McConaughey joins a diverse group of talent including Jamie Lee Curtis, Stephen Amell, Awkwafina, Noah Beck, Jessica Belkin, Scott Caan, Emma D’Arcy, Julia Garner, LL Cool J, Woody Harrelson, Hassie Harrison, Paul Anthony Kelly, Thaddeus LaGrone, John Mulaney, Brooks Nader, Emmy Rossum, and Sofía Vergara.
A significant contingent of the lineup features stars from Fox’s upcoming reboot of the iconic 1989 series “Baywatch.” Jessica Belkin, Hassie Harrison, Thaddeus LaGrone, Stephen Amell, Noah Beck, and Brooks Nader all star in the project. Curtis is also drawing attention for her nomination for outstanding guest actress in a comedy series for her role in FX’s “The Bear.” These performers join the already-confirmed presenters announced earlier by Variety, which include Odessa A’zion, Linda Cardellini, Macaulay Culkin, Alan Cumming, Sally Field, Jon Hamm, David Harbour, Marcello Hernández, Peter Krause, Dan Levy, Julianna Margulies, Annie Murphy, Niecy Nash-Betts, Keke Palmer, Amanda Peet, Amy Poehler, Florence Pugh, Rachel Sennott, and Zendaya.
The ceremony will also feature nostalgia-heavy segments celebrating television milestones. David Boreanaz and Sarah Michelle Gellar are set to honor the 30th anniversary of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” while Kate Jackson, Cheryl Ladd, and Jaclyn Smith will commemorate the 50th anniversary of “Charlie’s Angels.” In a musical tribute, Noah Kahan will perform “Bridge Over Troubled Water” during the In Memoriam segment.
Mariska Hargitay returns to host the evening, serving as executive producer alongside Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay of Jesse Collins Entertainment.
Shailene Woodley’s Emmy win was well-deserved! So glad she’s presenting alongside Matthew McConaughey this year.
Wait, is the Baywatch reboot actually good? I’m here for Brooks Nader and Stephen Amell, but don’t want boring segments.
Finally, Woody Harrelson and John Mulaney together again! Their chemistry will definitely steal the show during presentations.
