Jimmy Kimmel’s Censored Talarico Interview Reaches 5 Million YouTube Views

The YouTube channel for “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” reported that an interview with Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico surpassed 5 million views in its first 24 hours. The segment was pulled from broadcast television following intense political pressure.

During Wednesday’s episode, Kimmel announced the decision to withhold the interview from his ABC program, citing threats from the Federal Communications Commission against the network’s local affiliates. “Out of consideration for our local stations, especially our ABC affiliates in Texas who would have to deal with this nonsense, my interview tomorrow with James Talarico will not air on television,” Kimmel stated. He confirmed the segment would be made available exclusively on YouTube.

This incident marks another clash between the late-night host and federal regulators. Last year, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr threatened ABC after Kimmel made remarks regarding the 2025 assassination of Charlie Kirk, resulting in a suspension of nearly one week for the host.

Talarico himself has faced similar regulatory hurdles. In February, the FCC informed “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” that it could not broadcast an interview with the Texas Democrat, leading to its posting on YouTube where it achieved over 9 million views.

In the full 20-minute interview, Kimmel asked Talarico why former President Donald Trump and the FCC appear so hostile toward his campaign. Talarico responded by suggesting opponents fear a Democratic victory in Texas. “We are the underdogs until the last vote is counted. We’re not just going up against the most corrupt politician in Texas. We’re going up against this entire corrupt system,” Talarico said.
