Iran asserted on Thursday that it launched missile and drone strikes against United States military facilities in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, framing the action as retaliation for a wedding attack that Tehran attributes to Washington. The claim comes as US Vice President JD Vance confirmed that the deadly incident is under investigation.
Kuwait’s military reported intercepting incoming projectiles from Tehran, stating that Iranian forces hit the Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base. Kuwait denounced the attacks as a “grave breach of the rules of international law.” While Iran’s military claimed it struck the Al Minhad Air Base in the UAE, Emirati authorities reported no such attack occurred.
The escalation follows a missile strike on Tuesday night in the coastal town of Kuhestak, which the Iranian Red Crescent said killed at least four people, including a child, and injured more than 50 others attending a wedding celebration. IRGC chief Ahmad Vahidi vowed that the “pure blood of these oppressed martyrs will not go unanswered.”
If the UAE denies the strike, is Iran lying about the retaliation too? This whole narrative feels dangerously manufactured.
A wedding attack killing a child is horrifying. Whether the US is guilty or not, civilians are caught in the crossfire again.
