The production team behind the upcoming documentary “Don’t Look Back in Anger” has shared insights into the chaotic and emotional journey of the Oasis reunion. Directed by Will Lovelace, the film captures a period marked by intense fan devotion, unexpected police involvement, and a sermon on forgiveness, culminating in the band’s return to live performance.
On July 4 of last year, the group was poised to launch the first show of their highly anticipated comeback tour, marking their first performance together in 16 years since their acrimonious breakup in Paris. However, just 20 minutes before the scheduled start time, lead singer Liam Gallagher had not appeared. Approximately 74,500 spectators at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium were in high spirits, while Noel Gallagher paced anxiously near the venue’s loading dock, seemingly fearing another collapse.
Lovelace recalled that the monitoring feed he was using to observe the situation suddenly went dark. When the image returned, both brothers were seen conversing before walking onto the stage to meet a roaring crowd. Noel later expressed astonishment at Liam’s actions, noting that his estranged sibling had skipped the final rehearsal only to appear, shake his hand, and deliver a performance that made him sound rejuvenated. Noel described the experience with a mix of disbelief and admiration, calling his brother an “absolute mad cunt” in a recorded moment of incredulity.
