Germany Challenges ICJ Jurisdiction in Nicaragua’s Gaza Genocide Case

Germany has formally requested that the International Court of Justice dismiss a case brought by Nicaragua, asserting that the tribunal does not have the authority to hear the matter. The legal challenge was detailed by Al Jazeera’s Step Vaessen.

Nicaragua has accused Germany of breaching the Genocide Convention by providing weapons to Israel, alleging that such supplies contribute to the situation in Gaza. In response, Berlin is contesting the very jurisdiction of the ICJ to adjudicate these claims, aiming to have the case thrown out on procedural grounds rather than on the merits of the accusations.
