Eiffel Tower closed by staff strike over exclusion of women during Hindu delegation visit

The Eiffel Tower was forced to close on Monday following a staff strike organized in protest against the exclusion of female employees during a recent visit by a Hindu delegation.

According to the operator of the Paris landmark, the private visit was arranged to minimize “interactions with women” after the group made such a request.

  1. Strange timing though. With so many other issues in Paris, why did they choose today to shut down such a major landmark?

  2. Doesn’t the Eiffel Tower have a duty to uphold gender equality? Turning away female workers for money is unacceptable.

  3. I hadn’t heard about this specific incident. Is this really how private cultural delegations operate? Seems incredibly outdated.

  4. Absolutely disgusting that women were excluded. The staff strike was the only right response to such blatant discrimination.
