A Frito-Lay employee was fatally shot while working at a Sam’s Club in Nashville early Sunday morning, according to Metro Nashville Police Department officials.
Paris Carlock, 55, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, was struck in the head around 4 a.m. ET while conducting inventory in the chip aisle. The bullet passed through a metal side wall of the warehouse located on the 1300 block of Antioch Pike.
First responders found Carlock in the parking lot, and he was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The MNPD Homicide Unit has launched an investigation into the shooting.
Authorities told WKRN that the gunfire may be linked to an altercation at Lavou Lounge, a bar near the Sam’s Club. Security had removed the individuals involved from the establishment, but the argument continued outside. Gunshots were heard as vehicles departed the area.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of one of our colleagues,” PepsiCo, which owns Frito-Lay, said in a statement to ABC News. “Our sincere condolences are with their family members and loved ones. We have been working closely with law enforcement and local officials regarding the matter.”
A Sam’s Club spokesperson expressed heartbreak over the incident, adding, “We will continue to work closely with law enforcement as they investigate.”
