Search for Survivors Continues in Nepal Tunnel Rescue Effort

Rescue operations remain ongoing eight days after catastrophic flash floods struck the Nepal-Tibet border, with personnel still seeking survivors believed to be trapped within tunnels along the Trishuli River.

The disaster was triggered by a glacial collapse in the Himalayas, which sent floodwaters and debris sweeping through local roads and villages. The death toll has reached at least 1,200, while thousands of people remain missing.

BBC South Asia correspondent Azadeh Moshiri reported from one of the affected tunnel sites, highlighting the continued hope for finding those still trapped inside the infrastructure.
