After a six-year gap since its initial release, Apple has officially introduced the next generation of its compact smart speaker. The HomePod Mini 2 is available for preorder now and is scheduled to hit shelves on Friday, October 30th, priced at $149.
The updated device is powered by the S10 chip, the same processor found in the Apple Watch Series 10. This upgrade enables a range of new capabilities, including future support for Siri AI, which Apple promises will deliver a more capable and helpful voice assistant experience.
Connectivity and integration have also been expanded. The new speaker can be paired with the latest Apple TV 4K to create a four-speaker surround sound setup. Additionally, it can function as a speaker system for Mac computers, provided the computer supports Wi-Fi 6E.
October 30th? Hope stock doesn’t sell out instantly like the first one did.
Same price, new chip. Not bad. But I’m still holding out for a proper stereo pair option.
Finally supports Wi-Fi 6E for Mac pairing. That’s the feature I’ve been waiting for.
Siri AI on a $149 speaker sounds tempting. Is the improvement actually noticeable this time?
Six years? I guess they really wanted us to buy new Apple TVs to justify this upgrade.
