Grandfather Killed 8 in Erie Shooting, Family Says He Showed No Warning Signs

A Pennsylvania grandfather who allegedly opened fire on a family gathering in Erie, killing eight people before taking his own life, was remembered by relatives as an unassuming man who gave no indication of impending violence.

The shooting occurred on Friday at a home in Erie. On Sunday, the father of one of the toddlers among the victims told reporters that the gunman had never appeared distressed or acting out of character, according to the Associated Press.

People who knew the suspect described him as a grandfather who showed no outward signs that he was capable of such a mass killing. The incident has left the community reeling as investigators work to determine the motives behind the tragedy.
